Recommend Scubamar dive centre in Moraira for all diving training/boat dives etc. Very friendly English instructors with great sense of humour. Hours drive from San Juan but worth it. Snorkeling off Tabarca is pretty good. There are boats coming from Alicante or St Pola.

We travelled in May and there were not very many people on our beach - San Juan, it seemed very empty and desolate whereas the beach nearest Alicante (Playa del Postiguet) looked much cosier with more activity and life but wasn't overcrowded just very pleasant and very central to the town. There were beautiful walks and scenery was excellent, great views from the Castilla Santa Barbara definitely worth a visit.

Only being there 2 days it was mainly a relaxing time. However we visited the castle in Alicante with its magnificant views. (Well worth a visit for 2.40.)
The beaches and the walk along the rocks was just wonderful helped of course by a warm sun.

If you stay at this hotel then Resturant Bristol is good and cheap for Spanish food.
There is also McDonalds and KFC close by.
