M Criner 25 October 2002
Stayed at  Dusit Resort Hua Hin - Hua Hin, Thailand.
During my visit many dead fish had washed up on the beach. The water was rough with dead fish and trash floating around. With the hundreds of fish carcasses and plastic trash swirling around in the surf, the beach sure didn't lend itself as a place for swimming or even walking for that matter. I actually wondered if it was even safe to swim in.

The town of Hua Hin looks like most Thai towns. Mainly cement block buildings, touristy markets, and pollution belting out of motorbikes, cars, and buses. There are outdoor type restaurants which serve the standard Thai and western fare. None of which really stood out enough to mention.

Transport from BKK: Thai Limousine from BKK at Baht 2'500.- per car per way. (Mercedes) Time: Ca 2.5h to 3h. (including minor traffic jam around Bangkok) City of Hua Hin: Nothing special. Typical Thai small tourist town with usual shops. Visited only once with hotel shuttle. (Baht 30.- per person one way.) No need to go there to eat unless you'd like to avoid high food prices at hotel.

Elephant trekking is an experience worth having. Its easy enough so even kids can enjoy it. The hotel can arrange it for you. I understand a visit to Petchaburi is also worthwhile, though our hotel couldn't arrange it for us. I was also told by someone who'd been to Hua Hin that the night market is great & that there are some great eating shacks along the beach outside some of the other hotels.(This person had stayed at the Hyatt & swore by it.)

Stayed at  Central Village Hua Hin - Hua Hin, Thailand.
I was just for a short time in hua hin, but i will recommend to make a tour to the national park. If clients have enough time they can make a very nice dress or suit for less.

Hua Hin City is not a very interesting place. It's mainly adressing low cost tourism. I couldn't find a decent restaurant. The main attraction seems to be the small nightmarket.

Hua Hin has limited appeal culturally but is a good short break from Bangkok. It has everything else you might need like restaurants and shops which sell handicrafts. Everything is within walking distance.

Definitely worth the trip. Beach was quite nice and good for walking. Shops were fun. Very relaxing trip.

Stayed at  Hilton Hua Hin Resort And Spa - Hua Hin, Thailand.
The newly opened restaurant called "Huahin Brewely company" located at the first floor, they have very tasty beer and Thai food. Not so expensive, reasonable price.

Hua Hin is easily accessed from Bangkok, about three hours drive. Unfortunately, the sea is not so beautiful, but aquatic life such as small crabs and fishes are rich. It may be a good destination for family with kids. Hua Hin town is pretty, but there are few good restaurants.

S Bell 28 February 2001
Stayed at  Central Village Hua Hin - Hua Hin, Thailand.
We enjoyed Hua Hin, as it is still relatively under-commercialised. The beach is very clean and the people trying to sell things on the beach are not too pushy and take no for an answer straight away.
