Hua Hin is a very nice place - we recommend it!

Not an exciting town but great for R&R at the end of a long trip. The restaurants at the hotel(s), plus the seafood places just north of the Melia were the best bets. The hotel food was a little pricey. Walking to town is easy but tuk-tuks are reasonable.

Hua Hin is very good for familys with young children. They are now building an airport which I believe will make a diffrence, mabye not all to the good, but I still recommend it for a couple of years. There are a few tours you can do from Hua Hin. Mostly in one day. Small waterfalls, Elephant Riding, temple tours etc. (skip everything including a ”zoo” its terrible). Rent a taxi for a day to get around. You can get away with 1000 baht for one day. You can take the train to Bangkok for shopping. Around 200-300 baht. Restaurant to recommend is a German restaurant just across the street from Sofitel, brand new. He just moved there jan 2000, from another place in town. You cannot miss it! At Hotel Melias top floor you can have the best Chinese food at ”White Lotus”. If you need help with any arrengements while in Hua Hin we can recommend ToodooTours, which you also can find on the net. They help you to book taxis for different trips and other arrangements.
