Die Region Krabi , sowohl Hinterland wie auch der Kuestenstreifen ,gehoert fuer uns absofort zu unseren Favoriten in Thailand.Und wir kennen dort einiges, da wir in Thailand leben. Fuer jeden Geschmack laesst sich hier was finden.

There are other much more attractive beaches than Aonang in the area, but Aonang does have lots of cafes/dive shops/travel agents/internet shops etc.

Although not on the beach it is just a short and pleasant ride on a boat to get to any number of wonderful beaches. A five minute ride on the hotels free courtesy bus takes you into Krabi town where you can have a meal, shop or get boats to all of the surrounding islands and tourist spots.

Ao Nang is fantastic, not too commercialized yet but still great restaurants. Recommend the mangrove kayak tour with John and King Kayak, a truly unique experience.

Hotel too remote.

Krabi is a small countryside city, with few thing to see, to get to the beach, you have to go to Aonang Beach, the touristic destination.

Not nearly as developed and and overbuilt like Phuket. If you want the nightlife, Krabi is not it. However, if you want to go the the beach or outlying islands and not be hounded by all sorts of people, Krabi is the place. Great scenery and reasonable prices. Tour operators are plentiful as are seafood restaraunts and Western cuisine (and Thai), although the Thai place we went is definitely Euro-Thai (not authentic)

Krabi town is small and quaint - not a MacD or KFC in sight! But, it does close at 9pm. Worth a visit if you're in the vicinity. Ao Nang beach is the main beach and quite commercial (the usual sarong/t-shirt huts etc. and boat trips, canoeing, diving etc. available) although not yet over-developed. Some very reasonable accomodation available and a long stretch of unspoilt beach beyond the developed area. We booked a days' sea canoeing at our hotel's travel agency. This outing puported to give some tuition but didn't and the guides went racing off into the mangroves without making sure their charges could handle their boats. Our plastic kayak leaked and took in water and inevitably, we capsized into the muddy mangrove swamp! Whilst we laughed about this at the time, it could have been more serious. As it was, one of us was badly scratched and luckily our camera was in a plastic bag inside the rucsack, otherwise would have been ruined. Needless to say, the guides were well ahead of the group and were totally unaware of the event (eventually, they swapped boats with us). There are a lot of companies doing such tours and it's difficult to know the good ones, so beware if you are not a good swimmer. At USD30 per person, I expected a more professional outfit.

Krabi town not very touristy, which is refreshing. Took tour on long tail boat round the islands - fabulous. Also a local 'cultural' tour which turned out to be far better than we thought it would be. Both tours arranged in the hotel. Shuttle buses from hotel good.
