I haven't been to Pattaya before and I first landed in Jomtien Beach. I found it very beautiful and less crowded than Pattaya Beach. I would suggest visitor to stay in Jomtien Beach for their holiday. Although it is not as well developed as Pattaya beach, you can enjoy a quiet time and a less crowded environment.

Pattaya was more touristy than I wanted, but overall it was a nice getaway from busy Bangkok. The beaches are nice and there's plenty of things for everyone to do. A word of caution if you take a fishing trip, make sure you take Dramamine or another nauseau medication before heading out. Your trip could be cut short if you don't.
Restaurants are more common than the normal street vendors like in Bangkok. There are some nice seafood places, although they are a bit high in price. I'd recommend taxis for getting around. You'll never have a problem finding one and they are all set priced.

Only two days stay but Pattaya is different... is not the best resort in Thailand but still have sun, beaches and a lot of fun (Thai people, Thai food, Thai "sanuk"). Many tours can be taken, specially to the islands.

There is not mutch to do in Pattaya centre (beach and beer bars) but around Pattaya, there are many other things to discover. Ask the reception of the hotel....

Pattaya is very big, I think at the beach beyond Pattaya hill is better than Pattaya beach. Too many motorboats. I visit the Elephant park with include Thaidans and Botanic garden. It was very nice. I also play golf at Phoenix Golf and Country Club it was very fun but it was tough in the heat (39 c).

One of the best place for "clean fun" is PIC Kitchen along 5 Pattaya Soi 5. You can enjoy fine Thai dining in an excellent environment and beautiful jazz music thereafter in their pub.

Pattaya is a nice place whilst small city. There is not much to do. Only shopping (1/2 price of Bangkok! specially in 3rd street), beach (with all sport facilities for water sport lovers) and bars (for people who like that!). Taxi are very cheap (10, 20 baht depending to distance). Bike rental too. I think that one week in Pattaya is enough to visit everything.

At the quieter end of Pattaya well-situated for most facilities. Taxis plentiful and easy to get to South Pattaya.

Baht bus from the bottom of the hill back to the hotel (to avoid walking up hill) costs about 5 (or 10 if you are feeling generous) Baht.
