Stayed at  Aisawan Resort & Spa - Pattaya, Thailand.
We enjoyed visiting Pattaya again - having lived there in 1969/70. Of course the change is incredible - but we were prepared and not too shocked. It was fun to see the change - but a little sad to realize what has been lost.

We enjoyed visiting Watchaimongkol Market in addition to downtown Pattaya. We visited Pattaya Park and enjoyed the view of the area from the tower. We had a very nice visit to the Pattaya Elephant Village. We were there in the morning and thus, missed the shows (and the crowds) but thoroughtly enjoyed our elephant trek. It is a nice leisurely walk thru the surrounding countryside.

We did purchase the video tape that was made of our trek and were surprised to find that it included the shows that we missed seeing live. The only complaint about the video is that we were told it was in the US format and it wasn't. However we were able to have it converted for a reasonable price when we returned to the States.

We only had a day and a half in Pattaya and therefore didn't have time to enjoy any of the water activities - tho the offerings are extensive. The air conditioned bus from Bangkok (Eastern Bus Terminal) was very comfortable and efficient -and a good value (less than $5.00) .

Good restaurants close by. Great choice if you want to enjoy the sights and sounds of Pattaya, but don't want to 'slum it' either!

Stayed at  Royal Cliff Beach Resort - Pattaya, Thailand.
The beaches are nothing to write home about, but it is still a nice, reasoably-priced vacation destination.

Taking a local taxi transportation will cost you for 2 persons 50 Baht to Jontiem beach (they will ask more, discuss the price in advance). To Pataya beach (South) it will cost you 60 up to 80 Baht. You can fly directly from Pataya to Koh Samui and this island it worth to be visited.

Stayed at  Montien Hotel Pattaya - Pattaya, Thailand.
Unfortunately sea water not very clean in Pattaya; that is why a nice pool is very important.

Don't come to Pattaya if you are after pristine beaches. Nearby Jomtien is a better alternative. Gourmets will also be disappointed - the few five star hotels are the best option. However, a great restaurant that I have successfully recommended to many visitors is Mata Hari, not far from Hard Rock Hotel. Great and consistent food and very good value. Nong Nooch Gardens look a bit tacky in the tourist brochures, but are definitely worth a visit. Go early to avoid the mid day sun.

The Tequila Reef Tex-Mex restaurant on Soi 7 off Beach Road is worth a visit for frozen margaritas and fajitas. It's worth a short trip over to Jomtien Beach, which is a little quieter and more laid back than Pattaya beach.

Pattya is not a place for a family vacation. Great shopping, awesome food and scary nightlife!

Pattaya Thailand can be both exciting and relaxing. Kings restaurant, primarily sea food was awsome. Both the service and food exceeded my expectations. I also went on an elephant ride tour, again, awsome. Getting around was very easy via taxi and cheap too. In addition, I had two very fine suits made up at Michelle's and John's (two different places). Great price and excellent craftsmanship provided by both tailor's.
