Very good Location in the Heart of Chiang Mai Newtown. Only a few Steps to Nightmarket and Anuarn market, the Old
Town is reachable by walking. Donīt miss the Sunday Evening market in the Old town, surrounding the Tapae Gate.

My husband & I spent four nights in Bangkok, out first visit to the city. We stayed the first three nights at the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa & then transferred to The Peninsula for our last night as the Marriott was fully booked. I would highly recommend both hotels. The Marriott if you're travelling with younger children & The Peninsula for a romantic splurge. Both hotels shuttle services were great & we didn't find it an inconvinience being on the other side of the river. We used the Chao Phraya Express riverboats for sightseeing & the Skytrain when shopping & found both to be easy, efficient & reliable ways to get around. What Pho & The Grand Palace are both recommended, don't miss a massage at What Pho only 300THB for an hour. We bought a 3 day tourist pass for the Skytrain (280THB) which allowed unlimited journeys & we difinitely got our moneys worth. We can recommend Cabbages & Condoms & Baan Khanitha(Soi 23, Th Sukhumvit branch), we had fantastic dinners at both. If your're in or near the Central Chidlom Shopping Center at lunch time we had a great lunch at Food Loft. Be sure to drink plenty of water as with the heat dehydration can be a problem. We would definitely like to return to Bangkok one day.

Great area of Bangkok. Just about anything you want to see or do is here. Plenty of good restaurants and tailors. My favorite tailor is Peter Armani on SOI 11. I had not been there in 3 years and he still remembered me and had my measurements in his book.

We had dinner one night at Sala Bua Restaurant on Patong Beach. The food was superb. They have an award-winning chef with a long list of accomplishments. We would highly recommend the restaurant to any visitor seeking a high-class meal.

October is not a very good month to visit Phuket. Raining most of the time. We couldn't get back to the hotel when the main road was flooded one evening. The water was about knee high after a heavy downpour. If you want authentic Thai food, eat at ChiangRai Seafood at Soi Tun Bangla Road (Patong Beach). Ask the local people and they would be able to show up the place.

Stayed at Triple Two Silom - Bangkok, Thailand.

We visited Ayuttayah which was about an hours drive away - the King's Summer Palace is nearby and can be done on the same trip - well worth it. The Kings Palace is great to see in Bangkok and if you have time the floating market worth the trip. The night life in Bangkok serves all needs. If you have enough cash try a meal at Scirroco restaurant (open air at the top of State Tower at the end of Silom Road) or Vertigo on a similar theme on top of the Banyan Tree Hotel in the same area. Fanatastic for a romantic evening if not raining. Another favorite restaurant is Kappa in Sukhamvit soi 16 (Asoke). Use the taxis on a meter always and make sure it goes on when you get in unless travelling well outside Bangkok in which case agree the fare beforehand.

Stayed at Chaophya Park - Bangkok, Thailand.

I asked around for places to buy ladies office attire and was referred to Bo Bae and Pratunam. Bo Bae is a nighmare. I am a person who has a good sense of direction and even then I got lost and spend more than 20 mins trying to get to the exit for taxi! These places are more suitable for casual wear. I found what I wanted at Siam Discovery Center and Robinson.
Foodwise, avoid Seafood market and Restaurant at Sukhumvit soi 24. The prices they charged is a ripped-off. No wonder when I was there, I only saw tourist and even then only Westerners. Guess the locals know better.
When travelling as FIT, more concenient and cheaper to take the taxis as they are fairly priced.

For those in the Chiang Rai area, I would highly recommend visiting Doi Tung and Mae Fah Luang. The gardens are spectacular as are the mountain views.
