We decided to have some clothes made - however once the tailor had our business they were not interested in making any alternations. We had to argue with them to make simple alterations, and even then they were not done correctly. This wasted most of our time in Hoi An, and we did not get time to do much sightseeing. Also, be careful when invited to visit someone's home - they will try and sell you something!

* Despite the popularity with tourists, Hoi An is quite a pleasant town. Great deals on made-to-measure clothes and shoes. Pleasant bike rides in any direction out of town along quiet rural roads.
* If going to Cau Dai beach, watch for the motorcycle/bike parking scam near the beach. A guy insists no bikes are allowed past his booth and charges as much as you'll pay to park at his facility. Just do as the locals do - keep going, or go around the block to avoid him.

The restaurant near the hotel is very cheap and good.
There is a book office recommended by Lonely Planet in the same street: very cheep and very warm staff. We visited MY SON, MARBLE MOUNTAIN, DANANG (CHAM MUSEUM), we booked taxi.
The town of HOI AN is a very nice place to visit, very authentic. We book motorbike to go to CUA DAI beach.

The town ticketing system very inflexible - you are only allowed to visit one temple, one old house, etc, and no longer allowed to buy extra tickets to see the others.

We love Hoi An so our days were crowded. We got our laundry done in town which was a zillionth of the price of that of the hotel. We visited the temples of My Son but generally ate at the wonderful restaurants in the old quarter and shopped. We got around on bikes and the hotel bus mostly. The best restaurant by far was Miss Ly's and the best tailor was 19 Le Loi, the girls there work hard and deliver a good product.

Hoi An was fantastic! The restaurants we visited were very good. We took a tour to Hue, pouring with rain, but it was nice. Long journey, 3 hours each way.
We used taxis, boat, motorcycles and we hired a bicycle and it was extremely enjoyable.

Hoi An is beautiful. The "Old Town" is small, but interesting with several old buildings, temples, and a bridge to visit. The shopping is excellent reminding us of Thailand fifteen years ago.
