Hoi An has a lot to offer. The old town is very nice to walk around, but we also rented bikes to go to the beach and visited the ruines of My Son.
It is a nice place to visit for at least 4 days.

Interesting history but touristy. Best time to appreciate the town's beauty is after the Tam Tam bar has closed for the night and the streets are free of people.

Hoi An is quite touristy. In fact, it's like a European resort with a Vietnamese staff. Most of the post card kids are aggressive and some are malicious. If you have been to Angkor Wat, don't bother to go to My Son.

Hoi An is fantastic - it's got a bit of everything: great atmosphere, interesting sights, charming streets, lovely river, nice restaurants, great shopping & tailoring. The proximity to the beach is wonderful. After walking hours in extreme heat and 89% humidity, it was heaven to throw oneself into the sea!

The nearby town of Hoi An is a jewel that needs to be explored as it is so unique.
Dinner at the Mermaid and an after dinner drink at the Tam Tam Bar.

Hoi An is very lovely. The beaches here are beautiful--I was surprised by how nice they were relative to the attention they get. Rent bikes and ride to the beach for a very pleasant day (but do be prepared to attract many hawkers).

The hotel is ideally located - a 10 minute walk from the centre of Hoi An, which is a fascinating place to visit. Bikes can be hired very cheaply from the gate of the hotel and are a great way of exploring the area.
