In cooperation with the local tourism board the hotel operates well organized tours to all places of interest in the area. Private tours were lead by a dedicated guide and a good driver and the places to visit were carefully chosen. If the tour involves an overnight stay in another hotel, however, make sure beforehand they are chosing an upmarket one whose standards properly reflect the costs borne by the participants.

We hired a car and driver and tourguide through the hotel to go to the Cham ruins at My Son. The guide and driver were both very nice. The guide was very knowledgeable and paced the tour at our rate -- did not try to hurry us or slow us down. The driver spotted a banana tree flowering along the road and stopped for me to examine it, after I had mentioned that I was curious to see a banana flower (having enjoyed eating a banana flower salad in a restaurant).
Other than that, we just walked around the town, stopped at several art galeries, and at a restaurant that looked good. We were only there 24 hours and spent the afternoon at the pool due to the heat.

Hoi an is a good place for seeing the central parts of Vietnam.
Check out the best ways to get to other cities as you can get delays on flights and train although this can sometimes not be seen in advance. there are some really good places to eat and good places to have clothes made try Thu Thao at 32 tran Phu.

Wandering around on foot is easiest. Could walk 4-5km to sea side, or hire motor bike. If you are into eastern religions, My Son is worth a visit 1.5 hours away to see the ancient ruins.
