Stayed at Heritage Hotel Cameron Highlands - Cameron Highlands, Malaysia.
|
Cameron is actually a good place to stay. I went to Boh tea plantations, strawberry park, souvenir shops and many other interesting places. To eat a very delicious 'nasi kerabu' and satay you can go to night market at Brinchang near the police station (in front of Star Regency Hotel).

Stayed at Beach Garden Resort - Langkawi, Malaysia.

My trip has been a quiet one with the love of my life. We stayed in the resort, the resort bistro, and on the beach most of the time thinking it'd be a hassle to move out to town since we didn't have a car. But to our surprise, there were actually rows of souvenirs and sundries shops, restaurants, and bistros right infront of the resort! We managed to get a few souvenir and clothing items, had chinese for dinner in the restaurant opposite of the resort, and a drink of beers in a bistro along the street on the second day itself.
You can also find an internet cafe right down the street to your right coming out from the resort. Moving around the island is not a problem either if you can drive or ride a bike as the car/bike rental shop is right next to the resort. Now, the only regret we had was that the trip was just too darn short!

All aspects of KL are interesting, diverse cultures and food.
KL is easy to get around via light rail, taxi, bus and walking.
Malaysia represents good value for your money and a lot can be gained by visiting this country.

Drove to Sg Pandan waterfall and almost got lost. The water is murky.
The beaches in Cherating Lama and Balok has sandflies. So need to spray lots of insect repellant

Stayed at Allson Klana Resort - Seremban, Malaysia.
|
A short taxi ride into the local shopping area was exciting, but definately was not geared up for westerners. We drew many stares and although people were courtieous, they did not go out of their way to assist. As a non major city destination, Seremban was quite tranquil and peaceful. If you are after a lot of action, then this may not be the place for you.

Stayed at City Bayview Hotel Melaka - Melaka (Malacca), Malaysia.
|
Melaka is really a hot place place. Drink plenty of water and stay in-door from 12 noon to 4pm. The so-called historical sites is only worth 5-10 minutes each of your time. So do a quick run and hide yourself in the air-conditioned Mahkota Parade Mall until sundown. The real attraction is the night market in Jonker St (Jalan Hang Jebat). For food, don't bother to try their peranakan food, you can get better peranakan food in Penang and Singapore. I tried Peranakan Restaurant (opposite Hotel Puri), it is edible but nothing special. The only thing that I find good was that the meal was cheap (RM 49.90 for 2 persons).

Like Italian food? L'Opera restaurant is about eight or nine minutes on foot from the hotel. Not very expensive but superb pizzas and a good wine list.
