We mostly stayed at the pool. The support staff was very friendly and helpful.

Next to the hotel there is a small place where you can rent bikes, motorcycles and cars. They also arrange tours. We went on a mangroove swamp tour which was really great. The hotel resturant is one of the best in the area and quit close to the hotel there is another resturant called Shampor-Shampor which is well worth a visit.

Stayed at  Langkawi Village Resort - Langkawi, Malaysia.
The beach, Pantai Cenang, is where the resort is at is beautiful. You can take long walks and swim all day in its calm blue waters. If you find the resort food too expensive for your liking, there are plenty of food outlets within walking distance outside the hotel at reasonable prices. There are also groceries store and a supermarket nearby.

Stayed at  Pelangi Beach & Spa Resort - Langkawi, Malaysia.
We liked the restaurant 'Champor-champor,' which is run by a very friendly couple; the woman especially likes to meet the guests and treat them like personal friends. As a destination in general, Langkawi was a great recommendation for us because we were looking for a quick getaway from Singapore, and it was wonderfully easy to fly into Langkawi ... and yet the quiet on the island (just the occasional plane in the sky) was a much-needed contrast to urban & highly developed Singapore.

The island is quiet and beautiful, a nice place to take a good rest.

Orkid Ria chinese restaurant is excellent, turn right out of Beach Garden and walk 50 metres.

Hire a taxi for the day to see the island.

1. Best thing is to rent a car.
2. We took a trip to Payar Marine Park where we had the best snorkelling so far.
3. "Seven Wells" is a really nice waterfall; just make sure to bring your swimming suit 'cause you can actually swim in there (we didn't know). And be prepared to climb LOTS of stairs...don't give up; it is worth it. :)
4. There's a much better waterfall ( only remember it's just a few km. before Datai Bay; take a look on your map and you'll find it)
5.And don't try to "visit" Datai beach unless you stay there; it's absolutely for the hotel guests...
Have a nice vacation!

Langkawi is a great destination. Beautiful, clean beaches and sea OK for swimming (unlike Penang). Get a map of local attractions, hire a car and driver for a couple of hours and you will be driven around this beautiful island and get a wonderful insight into how the local people lead their lives, where they live and work etc. Drive through lots of typical Malay villages, including fishing villages with houses right on the beach (some almost totally demolished by monsoonal high seas). There is a modern shopping centre at Kuah the main town and Eagle Square is worth a visit, to see the most gigantic sculpture of an Eagle in existence. Langkawi is a duty free island and the prices are cheaper there than in any other of the airport shops.

Two restaurants are a must to try; 1) Little India near the Waterworld complex at Pantai Cenang, and 2)The Birdcage. For Italian food try Jezebel (we didn't as we ran out of time but were told it was excellent for pasta and pizza).
