Enjoy the sunset at the beach if you want some relaxing and romantic time. Do go to the Seven Wells - waterfall, if you have time, it's cooling!

Langkawi is quiet-a beach resort.Trips available and car rental, all ok.We've been before and enjoyed coning back.Could be dull for those needing party-club stuff. But the drink is cheap, and its a relaxing place.Shopping not as good as they say it is -lots of tat.Maybe boring for young families-not much to keep kids entertained.

Even better than the advertised tourist attractions on Langkawi, is the island itself. The locals live in traditional houses, sometimes on stilts, and surrounded by rice fields and sometimes buffalo.
I visited the Seven Wells waterfalls for a swim. There are lots of wild monkeys around which is cool.
If you want to eat like the locals at a little stand on the road, there's an incredibly cheap place directly across the road from the aquarium that sells chicken and rice wrapped in newspaper. You're guaranteed to be the only tourist so it's worth it for the novelty.

Relatively cheap transport by taxis. Local restaurants are particularly good value for money. Underwater World is definitely worth a visit.

The area itself is just lovely. It is easy to get around on a motorbike and there is lots to see...especially the waterfall!

As it is not far from the jetty point, it is easy to get on the tours to different islands.

The location was excellent from the airport and beach, but better permit cars (or cabs) to enter and reach chalets especially the far ones. We tried to find clean and fashion restaurants, but it was very difficult, all we found was very popular and traditional ones.

Langkawi is good for a family, like us, but it may be a bit quiet for young singles as the nightlife is minimal (near the Beach Garden anyway). You really need a car to get around the island .. it is worthwhile hiring one to visit Kuah town, the famous waterfalls and to generally look around. We took a island hopping tour, which was interesting but crowded with tourists all arriving at the same time on other boats. Our only disappointment was the amount of rubbish that washed up on the beach from time to time .. a real shame in such a beautiful spot.

I did not explore Langkawi much, as I spent all my time alternating between the hotel and the golf course, which is 5 minutes away by car. I sampled all 3 restaurants at the hotel and think they are all very good.
