Lankawi is a beautiful island, a tropical paradise and very romantic if you're a couple on your own. We'd recommend the 'Wonder Seasons' restaurant on Ceneng Beach. It was very cheap, with very cheap beer, and the food was excellent. Huge portions and absolutely delicious. The staff were also very friendly.

We rented a motorbike from the hotel(its cheaper if you go to the rental places direct)and toured the island. The roads were safe at this time of year and we were able to see lots on our own schedule. There are beautiful sights all over the island from golf courses to waterfalls....Try and check out other hotels to see the diversity they have on the island.

Not a tremendous amount to do on Langkawi. Beautiful scenery, a couple of nice golf courses including the Datai Bay, and water sports. Thai Barn restaurant located in the mangroves is worth a trip.

the immediate area around Langkawi village resort is brimming with good value food and drink outlets. also the souvinir shops, while not as extensive as kuah town are about the same price.
and where else in the world can you drink Carlsberg at 0.50 USD/can ??

The hotel is situated on a lovely beach side, but quite far away from the shopping town, Kuah. Outside the hotel, you can have Chinese, seafood, Malay cuisines and others. Just adjacent to the hotel is a good looking restaurant called Sunvillage, which has one seafood and one Malay restaurant. The price is a bit high but if you like to eat in good atmosphere, try it.
We have been to the marine park, Palau Payer, but worse than I expected. Changing room is dark and no hangers or shelves to hold things. No shower facilities or only little water comes out. Toilet lights are all out.
But the beach has a lot of fish and baby sharks although the beachfront is quite small. You can feed the fish with bread or your own fingers!
I also have dived not far away from the beach. Not much nice things to see. Very few beautiful corals or fish. A sand base without reef. Very disappointed. Bohol and Cebu in the Phillipines of the same depth are much nicer.

Right on the dot to wherever you want to go. Just a walking distance to the shops in Kuah. You can even plan your journey right thru the windows of your room. Excellent.
