Stayed at  Shamrock Hotel - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Hong Kong, while an exciting city, can be a really tricky place for shopping. Virtually everything is at your fingertips - but you can never be sure if you're buying the real thing or not, or if you're paying a good price. My one suggestion: Don't buy electronic goods from street stores. Never a good buy!

Stayed at  Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Hong kong itself was interesting. We only had 1 day there so it is probably unfair of me to comment too much. I would like to spend a few more days there, but that's it. Didn't find it that stimulating.

Hong Kong is VERY expensive, and it is easy to get ripped off. A half day tour we went on had an optional HK$50 sampan ride which we really didn't get any opportunity to say 'no' once we were there. The tour guide was really only interested in anyone prepared to spend up big at the places he got a commission. And that was to the detriment of others on the tour.

Stayed at  Empire Hotel Kowloon - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
The Empire Hotel is not in an attactive tourist location, and so getting to the shops and most destinations was difficult. It is located opposite a prominent sauna and other "nitespots" - so we did not feel it safe to go out later in the evening, due to the sleaze factor.

Stayed at  Guangdong Hong Kong - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Hong Kong, as always, is great! Also a good hopping-off point for a quick visit into Southern China (Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Guilin). If travelling with kids, Teddy Bear Kingdom in Tsim Sha Tsui is NOT recommended--waste of money. DeliFrance cafe is good place for breakfast. If transferring to the train or ferry and taking a taxi, avoid having to place "carry-on" type bags in the trunk, as the driver will try to charge you extra for luggage.

Stayed at  Regal Kowloon Hotel - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is always undergoing a metamorphosis. Unfortunately, Tsim Tsa Tsui East is being dug up for the extension of the KCR, so the traffic is worse than usual.

Stayed at  Newton Inn North Point - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Hong Kong public transportation was extremely convenient. We ended up using buses most of the time, rather than the MTR. The Airport Express was expensive, and in the end getting from Hong Kong station to our hotel took so much time that we would have been better off taking the bus from the airport. The Octopus card is a wonderful invention. We also did a lot of walking. Compared to other cities (Tokyo, London), Hong Kong is very compact, so we could walk around Kowloon and HK Island (from North Point to Sheung Wan) very quickly and easily. About locations, we enjoyed North Point, Sheung Wan and Mong Kok very much. The Temple St. market was a tourist trap, and not very interesting at all (except as an example of a tourist trap). We were surprised at how early stores and restaurants open and close. We had problems finding a restaurant open for late dinner.

Stayed at  Miramar, Hotel - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Wonderful tourist attractions and inexpensive shopping. One negative thing though, is the behavior of some locals manning the shops, most particularly the electronic shops along Nathan Road. Shopping for electronic items has been a lot of hassle as they will try to rip you off as much as possible. It would be better to buy from dept stores where the prices are fixed and you don't have to fight over the price of a specific item, which is very stressful and lot of hassles.

Stayed at  Bishop Lei International - Hong Kong, Hong Kong.
Should try the Tea houses in Wellington Rd ....a unique experience... Forget abt Ladies Rd night market...the stalls there really practice "push" selling..VERY RUDE AND SNOBBISH at time...if u are lookin for clothes try the shops around in the shopping complexes , most have better quality stuffs and services with only a bit of price differences... For quality and cheap fashion try the factories outlets..esp. Esprite outlet ...

smoggy city which can at times spoil sightseeing. ferry trip to nearby island pleasant, nice 2-hour walk, but beach too dirty to swim. sellers at Kowloon can be aggressive. train from airport good value.

HK has very good infrastructure particularly Airport express, public transport and hotel booking etc. only vegetarian people face problem as most people do not understand what is vegetarian meal.
