Went up the Peak Tram and dined at the Peak cafe. What an experienced.
Caught the MTR to Kowloon Tong and then the KCR (Railway) to Shenzhen (Mainland China). Didn't bother with an official tour! Apart from being hassled by taxi drivers coming out of the station, it was nice to look round and to finally be in China!
Great cheap foodcourt opposite the Marco Polo Hotel in Kowloon.
Watch out for Money Changers. We got offered a really awful rate and I almost had to phone the police to get my money back. Don't hand over the cash til you're satisfied with the deal. Thomas Cook at the airport is good though.
Airport Express is quick and good price. Most hotels have a shuttle bus from Airport Express station. When leaving you can check in at Airport Express 24 hrs beforehand. On the day you check in at the station and your luggage is transported seperately to the airport and your plane.

It was 2 blocks to the MTR which we took to the Ladies' Market, and also Temple Street. But if you would like to see the sounds and sights of Hong Kong, you could also walk to all these shopping places in about 15-25 minutes. Temple Street definitely got the better bargins, but not necessary varity or quality as the Ladies' Market. But the food was inexpensive and in good quanity on Temple Street; plus you could also get your fortune told by one of the fortune tellers around there. Oh, one more thing, don't pay a taxi to come to the hotel from the airport because it's going to cost bundles. But instead take the airport fast city-bus line (I believe it's 21A, that's the bus number to get you close to the hotel near the MTR) and it's only going to cost each way $33HKD per person. But of course again, you have to walk 2 blocks to get to the hotel with your bags. But you could also just hire a taxi from the bus stop to the hotel which should only take 5 minuts max to get to.

We think that Hong Kong is a fascinating city,
and we should like to return. We have seen a
lot together with our Hong Kong friends, like
Kowloon Parc, Victoria Peak, Stanley, Lantau
Island with the picturesque village Tai O and
the New Territories. We also visited Lamma
Island on our own.
We have been to Guang Dong
for three days, a trip we recommend.
We have found it very easy to get around.
We have travelled by underground, buses,
trams and ferries. Although we don't speak
Chinese, we have had no problems to get
around on our own.
We are concerned over the heavy smog in Hong
Kong (and in China), and we think it has
become worse during the last three years.
We think this is serious and we are afraid
that tourists may stay away.
We have enjoyed the Kantonese food a lot and
we especially recommend the Light Vegetarian
Restaurant on Jordan Road, Kowloon.
