Went to Phuket Phantasea (again). Phi Phi Island day trip worth the money. The Phuket Transportation Office is implementing "fixed" prices that Tuk Tuk drivers can charge - so tourists will no longer be overcharged, and if they think they were, numbers to call and report the driver.

The Sky Train is really useful - it will be even better if the lines are extended. Often the "Taxi Meter" drivers ignore their meters completely, but rates were better when they were used. We followed by a tuk-tuk driver who dropped us at Wat Pho (he first claimed it was closed, of course) for about half an hour, so avoided them after that.

Bangkok is extremely dirty, hot and the smell is horrible. People can be helpful but be very careful, most of them try to take advantage of you. Be careful with the taxi drivers they would offer to take you shopping but the only thing they are after is gasoline coupons from the stores they would take you.
A lot of prostitution and you can hardly walk on the side walks because it is taken by vendors. You might think you are buying brand clothes but when you washed them you'll realized that you paid (2 or 3 dollars) for what you paid, disposible clothes.
If you really want to visit a nice, clean city go to Malaysia. This is a pretty safe country and people won't try to take advantage of you.

I was in Bangkok for just 24 hours on transit - huge fast-paced cosmopolitan city. Cabs were a great way to get around - cheap, clean and air conditioned. Tuk tuks on the other hand, were a horrible way to get around - aggressive haggling before a journey, numerous attempts to divert you to shops. The first tuk tuk driver I went to didn't even wait to ask where I was going before launching into the old trick "holiday everything closed".

Weekend market is a must-do for shoppers -- and includes some great spots for a bite to eat. We also enjoyed Lemongrass. Don't listen to the many touts on the street advising you that whereever you're visiting (Grand Palace, Wat Po, etc.) is closed.

Bangkok's infrastructure impressed us. The Skytrain is very good, and the three-day tourist pass is well worth getting. Taxi(meters) are also cheap and comfortable, but I would stay well away from the 'Tuk Tuk's. Riding one of those in the blazing heat with the pollution level of the city and the strong possibility that the driver takes you a long way around to show you his uncle's jewellery shop, is not worth the aggravation!

Bangkok is a busy city and I would not recommend a stay of over 3 days as the traffic and pollution takes its toll! However, a trip to the floating market, an evening at a thai boxing match and a day of shopping in the markets is a must. Tuk Tuk's and taxi's are very cheap and easy to use..stay away from public transport( it's just not worth the hassle!)

I went to the Bamrungrad Hospital on Sukhumvit Soi 3. Excellent facilities!
This hospital was effecient than any I have seen back home. The doctors spoke good English and drugs are half price.
The facilities are beautiful, with marble bathrooms and wide open spaces.
