I've stayed in Bangkok for a couple of days and I've visited the most typical & important places. It was my second time in Bangkok, so I didn't take any organized tour, I did by myself. The worst experience is to take a tuk-tuk, because they always try to take you to a shopping area and if you don't want, sometimes they don't take you or then the price is more expensive than a taxi. I recommend to take taxis instead of tuk-tuk, at least in the most touristic areas.

The best thing about Chiang Mai is the Regent resort. We visited a few temples, and did some shopping, but feel the shopping (and prices) in Bangkok are better. Chaing Mai now has over a million people, loots of cars and associated pollution, and is no longer a nice place to visit, in our opinion. We also visited when they were burning off the rice fields, and the haze was almost impentrable. Try Chiang Rai instead.....

Bangkok is a beautiful city but this time of the year (March), the sun can be a little too hot even for an Asian!

You'll either love or hate Bangkok. I for one am not a fan!
Too much hassle, too many people trying to constantly rip you off (tuk-tuk drivers), glad we only had a stop over.

I recommend spending minimal time in Bangkok. The traffic and pollution are enough to limit one's visit to 2-3 days. The real treasures of Thailand are down south on the Andaman Sea. Do check out Chinatown while you're in Bangkok. Lots of good food, activity and people watching.

Chiang Mai is really a fun destination. I took a trek, but three days was way too much for me to hike around all day in 95 degrees so I cut it short by one day

Bangkok traffic is horrible - try to stay close and take the sky train whenever possible.
We were offered the Royal Palace full day tour at the airport for USD 10 but the hotel concierge was charging no less than USD 40 per person.
Anyway, we skipped on taking the tours because they would start from the hotel at 6:30 a.m.! After making several other pickups from other hotels, one wouldn't even be on their way to the actual destination until 8:00 a.m. We decided to take a taxi to the Royal Palace ourselves.

Its a nice place to visit, dirty, very poor in hygen. Drink bottle water and anything that is from a close bottel. Comming alone is quite boaring, so come with friends or your GF or wife.

Pattaya is a playground for men. Many bars and women who are more than willing to be your companion for the day. I was a little turned off at the overt solicitations on my husbands with me standing right next to him ( at first it was amusing but after a while, it is alittle rude )

Stayed at Phi Phi Island Village Resort - Phi Phi Island, Thailand.

The destination is cut off from Phuket. Becasue of the distance we missed one day at Pee Pee as the seas were too rough for the speed boat to get there.. After much indecision (after 1 hour underway) the boat returned back to Phuket and we left a day later...
