Pattaya itself very very busy. Not the ideal holiday destination if you want peace and quiet, but a shopper's paradise. Not the best place to go for those easily offended!

Guests not having been to BKK before should be told that tuk tuk drivers will try to con you by taking you to these outlets where they get petrol vouchers for taking people there.
You should always get into a metered cab no matter where you are going because in the long run they will save you money!

Don't succumb to the offers from the touts at Bangkok airport, who seem very official and friendly, but will end up persuading you to take a 'cheap' tour of the sights - ending with you being dragged to the more expensive jewellery and clothes shops from which they earn commission. Metered taxis work out significantly cheaper than tuk tuks or unlicensed cabs, even though the drivers will probably not be as friendly.
Make a day trip to the ancient Saim capital city of Ayutthaya (on the train, rather than by organised tour) if you can, for an impressive array of ancient ruins.

Racheda boy/girl show, excellent value
buffet dinner go to the Landmark, not the JW Marriot, cheaper and a better deal
Biyoke ski hotel, chinese restaurant, count your change against the bill.
Taxis, make sure they use the meter.
if you like ping pong balls go to Patpong, personally they drive me crazy.
Crocodile farm, good value, and a good day out
river trip, they ask for 1500, offer 1000, and you will get it for 1080 baht

Phuket - what can i say a lovely island with warm people. I came at low season so most of the place/tour is either closed for renovation or cannot go around due to the weather or mating season ( for the Cave ).

Pat pong area in Bangkok is very nice for shopping, but be careful about the street vendor, they will rip you off, if you are a foreigner.

Bangkok was the pits. Dirty, and apart from a few of the temples and Grand Palace, nothing of note.
Watch out for the so called helpful "well dressed office worker" who tries to give you assistance and the over friendly tuk-tuk drivers who want to take you to the gem shops, not where you want to go!!!!

Bangkok is a fine tourist spot. The City is full of massive Buddhist Monastires which are very well maintained and worth a visit. Getting around in Meter Taxi is advisable as they are comparatively cheap and the cabs are well maintained. Keep away from touts who would be hell bent to take you to Jewelry Factory or Tailor Factory or such places. These could be taxi drivers tour operators and just anybody on the street. It is real wastage of time and money if you happen to buy anything there. Avoid organised site seeing tours. Get hold of a City Information Booklet, available free in abundance and decide your own schedules and iterinary. Take point to point meter taxies and move round. You shall certainly have value for your money.
