Bangkok is loud, dirty and stinks. Great shopping, but after a few days in this city you will need an extra portion of peace and tranquility.

I have visited most places where tourists usually go in Bangkok. To me the floating market is a rip-off. The hawkers try to sell you trinkets at exorbitant prices-condoned and encouraged by the small boats'owners and skippers.

It would have been nice to know in advance that the beach front was under major construction to the sidewalks.

Taxi always try to fool tourist with price, specially the tuc tuc. So the best way is to choose taxi directly at one of the luxury hotels near your place of visit. There the number of the taxi is registered and the are forced to use the taxameter.
Donīt miss to visit the skyhotel to have best view of the highest hotel in asia.

If you are planning to have a suit tailor made, it pays off to shop around for the quality and the price. Varies very much. We found a good one on Sukumhvit's Soi 11 (Esquire). Excellent quality and fast & friendly service, without any haggles. Also check out the ready goods, before placing an order if some one recommends it. It is likely they're family/friends...
Check out Oriental hotel for atmosphere. Beware the boattouroffers if you take the express. Do NOT take any TUK TUK rides if not necessary. You will just waste time, because they will take you where you do not want to go. Taxi's are cheap (make sure the meter is on) & plenty enough.

tour taken was not exactly as expected. didn't particularly appreciate being taken to factory "shopping" and pressure to purchase jewelry and clothing. when shopping was suggested and with knowledge of markets, this is what i expected or shops which were geared toward local crafts.
my vacation, my time, apparently this is standard with a tour, and don't feel it's appropriate with clear explanation of same. I don't much appreciate being decended on like prey.

Indian temple nearby is quite different from all the other Thai style temples. Decent bus roots map is of help as it was hard to understand advices from the hotel staff. Beware of tuk-tuk drivers around - many of them will offer a cheap deal to take you to the "sponsoring" shops "on the way," although it was good to do it once just for the experience. After that we negotiated "no sponsors" from the beginning.

Unfortunately, Pattaya has been destroyed by tourism. I don't think there is a better way to explain it than this- it is a real shame, as I am sure it was beautiful 30 or 40 years ago.

Patong is a nice beach (excellent water temperature) but you get annoyed by all people asking if you want a massage, if you want watches, if you want to do parasailing ... Uff
Next time I will try another beach, hopefully it will be more calm ...

Don't listen to the hotel taxi service when they recommend the local seafood restaurant. My Thai friends suggested some local street stalls, but the man at the taxi service told us that neighborhood was "dangerous" and that we should go with his service. When we asked where the restaurant was he wouldn't tell us, insisting that we take his cab!
