You will not be alone in Hue, which is a major touristy destination in Vietnam. Groups and backpackers are almost everywhere. Beware of the rain, when it starts it can last for days (and nights).

Hotel is located at the center of everything, very convenient. Walk to The Cidadel from hotel is only about 25 minutes at most; when taking "SHICRO" to the Cidadel, please DO negotiate with "Shicro Driver" for FAIR charges.
When my husband and I took the "Shicro" to Cidadel from Morin Saigon, the prices we negotiated before getting on Shicro was 30,000.00 VND for each person/each way; then on the way to Cidadel, they OFFERED to take us from Cidadel to Museum afterwards (which the museum was only about 5 minutes walk away from Cidadel). The way they offered sounded to be complimentary. And we thought even if with charges, how more expensive could it be? After all, it is only 5-minute walk distance; and we were also very careless that we did not ask exactly how much extra charges would be. The fact was, they made a long route around old quarter of Hue, and when we got off the Shicro in front of museum, they have asked for 100,000.00 VND per person for the trip.
My husband and I felt to be cheated, somehow. Since then, we have been avoiding Shicro for the entire trip in Vietnam.
For those who are interested having Custom-made Ao Dai, "Morin Silk" at the hotel could be your choice. I had two sets of Ao Dai made from "Morin Silk" and they fit perfectly. About USD 20.00 each set.

There were many tours available at reasonable rates. We took a trip along the perfumed river which was good value for money. Watch out for people trying to sell things. Do not take anything unless you really want it and be definite, but polite and friendly, when you say no! Otherwise we found people to be very nice towards Westerners.
We ate in the hotel and the meals were very good, especially the buffet where you get a chance to try a variety of Vietnamese dishes on offer. The cyclo's are a good way of seeing Hue and reasonably priced, they do expect a good tip though so budget that in.

Great location, close to river and restaurants. Hotel could do better by listing restaurants by food type or restaurant style.
Drivers were excellent, polite, very professional.
Boat tours were wonderful but did not appreciate the 'hard sell' on the boat. Many items were put on display for buying after we got started.

So, nothing to visit, or at least the hotel staff would not tell me! The place is at around one hour drive from Danang airport and it costs you 50$ (US) to get there and the same to get away! This really should be pointed out because that was a very bad surprise! ... I could go on and on whith the bad stuff but I think it is enough!

Beach is nice but pollution starts to get a problem at the southern end. As foreigner you will be quite an attraction to local kids which can get bothering from time to time.

Lang Co is potentially a wonderful place where the river meets the sea, however infrastructure is not yet set-up to international standards. The beach is covered in rubbish debris washed in from the sea, the villages still use the beach as a public toilet and most of the surroundings (ie roads, resort entrance) are under contruction, so there is dust and noise of jack-hammering and trucks.
I would highly recommend that you stay anywhere in Hoi An, rather than here.

Hue is much more laid back than most of the other
cities in Vietnam. It's a great place from which
to tour the DMZ. Watch out for cyclo drivers
trying to rip you off. One quoted our friend
a rate of $10/hour (already too high), asked her
for $65 after two hours, and then got into a big
fight with her when she refused to pay such an
absurd amount.

Hue is lovely, although as with everywhere in Vietnam, you have to be careful that you are not bilked out of excessive amounts of money once you are labeled a tourist. The Citadel is amazing, as are the various masoleums.
